Wind tunnel models don’t get a second scan if the geometry is wrong. We’re looking for a CAM Programmer / Machine Operator to join our Prototype Machine Shop, programming and machining complex components for our wind tunnel models, testing jigs and fixtures, and from time to time the race car itself.
What you’ll be doing
- Producing components in the most efficient, cost-effective way, keeping lead times to a minimum.
- Conducting CAM programming and machining operations as directed by the Supervisor/Team Leader to meet deadlines.
- Collaborating with Toolpath Programming to solve first-off machining problems and improve quality or runtime.
- Inspecting first-off components thoroughly before running the rest of the batch to the same standard.
- Recording shop-floor data accurately and handing over clearly between shifts to protect production time.
This role operates on a weekend shift, Friday to Sunday, 06:30–18:30.
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience in a low-volume, high-precision, fast-paced prototype manufacturing environment, with strong CNC and manual machining knowledge.
- The ability to plan ahead, prioritise workloads and operate multiple machines simultaneously.
- Extensive experience manufacturing metallic and non-metallic components, including aircraft-grade metals and high-performance plastics.
- Strong expertise in setting, operating and optimising 5-axis CNC machine tools.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, ideally Siemens NX.
- A recognised engineering apprenticeship or at least five years’ experience in a precision engineering environment, ideally F1, motorsport or aerospace.
