CFD Engineer – Thermal Brake Methodology

Cadillac Formula 1 Team

We are seeking a talented CFD Engineer to join our multi‑disciplinary Aerodynamics group, focusing on developing and advancing thermal brake CFD methodologies. You will improve predictive accuracy, correlation, and robustness of thermal modeling while working closely with aerodynamicists, process engineers, and software engineers to ensure our modeling approaches remain accurate, efficient, and aligned with performance objectives.

  • Develop and refine thermal brake CFD methodologies to improve accuracy, robustness, and correlation with test data
  • Define best‑practice modeling approaches, assumptions, and interpretation guidelines
  • Contribute across CFD domains, with strong emphasis on thermal modeling and brake thermal behavior
  • Support integration of new and updated methodologies into established CFD workflows
  • Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders
  • Provide technical guidance to CFD users to ensure consistent methodology application

What do we need from you?

  • Degree in Aerospace, Motorsport, Mechanical Engineering, or similar, ideally with a CFD/Aerodynamics focus, or equivalent
  • 2+ years’ experience in a relevant motorsport CFD role
  • Strong grounding in fluid dynamics, numerical methods, and turbulence modeling
  • Reliable, accurate, and able to deliver high‑quality work under time pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence engaging with technical and senior stakeholders
  • Experience with commercial or open‑source CFD solvers, ideally for thermal applications
  • Experience correlating CFD with wind tunnel, dyno, or track data
  • Understanding of solver behavior, numerical stability, or modeling limitations
