Electronics Design Engineer

This role reports to the Head of Electronics or their designee and is based in Banbury, UK, contributing to the design of on- and off-car harnesses, units, sensors and other electronics assemblies.

Key responsibilities

• Design on- and off-car harnesses, units, sensors and other assemblies, ensuring they meet performance and reliability requirements.
• Design FIA, FOM and supplier component installations in accordance with their requirements, working closely with and advising the mechanical design office.
• Design electronics systems to support on- and off-car instrumentation and measurements, and generate installation manuals and documentation for trackside use.
• Proactively investigate faults and generate fault reports, working closely with the Senior Electronics Design Engineer, Reliability Engineer and trackside electronics team.
• Assist in developing mitigation solutions for fault resolution of electronics, sensors and electrical components, both on and off car.
• Support pre-season car build, test and rig events, overseeing installation of the electronics system in the chassis and garage environment.

What you’ll bring

• University degree or equivalent, preferably in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
• Multi-year experience in state-of-the-art electronics engineering in a high-level technology development environment; motorsport experience would be advantageous.
• A working knowledge of electronics system design on an F1 chassis, with the ability to define accurate 3D layouts and drawings to a high standard.
• Working knowledge of schematic design, PCB layout and CAD design packages, and experience producing small batch/prototype analogue and digital circuits.
• Good understanding of sensor technologies and their supporting electronics, with a proven track record of fault investigation, containment and rectification.
• Solid computer knowledge including CAD (e.g. CATIA/3DX) and PCB design (e.g. Altium); embedded systems programming (e.g. C) and higher-level languages (e.g. C#/VBA) are advantageous.
