Atlassian Williams Formula 1 Team

Behind every race car component is a machinist who got the setup right first time. We’re looking for a Metallic Machinist (Turner) to join our Machine Shop, turning components on Fanuc-controlled lathes and turn-mill machine tools to support both the race car and our external customers.

What you’ll be doing

  • Producing components in the most efficient, cost-effective way, keeping lead times to a minimum.
  • Collaborating with Toolpath Programming to solve first-off machining problems and suggest improvements to quality or runtime.
  • Working with fellow machinists and other areas of the business to establish and use best practice.
  • Inspecting first-off components thoroughly, confirming correctness before running the rest of the batch.
  • Recording shop-floor data accurately using Data Collection Software.
  • Handing over clearly and accurately between shifts, in writing and in person, to protect production time.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong knowledge of setting and operating Fanuc-controlled lathes and turn-mill machine tools.
  • The ability to run multiple machines and plan ahead as standard practice.
  • Good depth of machining knowledge, both CNC and manual, in a low-volume, high-accuracy, fast-paced prototype environment.
  • The ability to program manually and/or conversationally is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing metallic and non-metallic components from aircraft-grade metals and high-quality engineering plastics.
  • Ideally, a recognised apprenticeship or relevant experience in a precision engineering environment (preferably F1).

This role operates on a weekend shift, Friday to Sunday, 06:30–18:30.
