Senior Structural Design Engineer

Join our Structural Design and Analysis department as a Senior FEM Structural Analysis Engineer, playing a key role in developing cutting-edge Formula 1 car components.

Your mission

• Perform advanced linear and non-linear finite-element analyses on composite and metallic components and assemblies.
• Define and validate structural load cases using first-principles engineering, simulation data and track feedback.
• Support the design and optimisation of critical F1 systems, including suspension, aerodynamic surfaces, chassis, gearbox and mechanical assemblies.
• Deliver structural sign-off documentation, ensuring compliance with internal standards, FIA regulations and project deadlines.
• Collaborate with Design Engineers to achieve lightweight, robust solutions through iterative optimisation.
• Develop and improve analysis methodologies, automation tools and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior analysts and support cross-functional projects.

Your profile

• Degree (MSc or equivalent) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in structural analysis within high-performance motorsport, automotive or aerospace.
• Proven track record delivering FEM sign-off for complex composite and metallic structures.
• Strong understanding of structural mechanics, fatigue, buckling, impact, vibration and optimisation on composites and metals.
• Experience of bolted and bonded joint analysis and correlation with physical testing.
• FE solvers: Abaqus Standard required; Abaqus Explicit and Optistruct advantageous.
• Altair suite (HyperMesh, HyperView, HyperStudy) required; CATIA V5/V6, Python or MATLAB/Simulink advantageous.
• Fluent spoken and written English is mandatory.
